Who We Are

    This web site is brought to you by H&P Publications, the business name for the publishing and web endeavors of Steve and April Pastis. Steve founded The Hellenic Calendar, the Greek-American newspaper for Southern California and the Great Southwest, in 1979 and the last issue was in 2004. Plans are to resume publication later this year.

    Steve’s articles and features have appeared in a wide variety of publications, including Greek Accent, Circus Magazine, Baseball Cards, Non-Sport Update, Occidental Magazine, The Greek Voice, Happening Magazine, The John Cooke Fraud Report, SportsAm, Parenting, Brooklyn Parent, Cool and Strange Music and Cartoonist and Comic Artist.

    H&P Publications has since acquired Cartoonist and Comic Artist and it will be back in publication soon.

    Steve grew up attending St. Anthony’s Greek Orthodox Church in Pasadena, California, where he was active in the Youth Group and in the AHEPA Family. He served as a Supreme Governor and District 20 Governor for the Sons of Pericles, and as District 20 Secretary of the Order of AHEPA.

    April has a wide variety of journalism experience and expertise. An award-winning reporter and editor, she has written, edited and designed for a wide variety of publications, including daily, weekly and monthly newspapers, as well as for magazines and newsletters.
